    Train urbanism researchers in line with modern standards to help them solve pressing problems of civic development; to ensure intellectual growth of the PhD student in line with internationally recognized standards; to ensure the approximation of academic and research resources; to intensify scientific work and raise research quality; to participate in the international scientific space; and to create and promote new knowledge in the field.

    PhD students will acquire knowledge, ‘tools’ and methods for working as an informed professional familiar with modern tendencies in such spheres of civic development/urbanism when it is necessary to be aware of modern technologies and have a socially relevant vision. PhD students will acquire a comprehensive academic and professional understanding of urban space to enable them to properly realize and evaluate ongoing urban processes, to plan, arrange and manage urban territory and socio-economic environment.

    The program will help graduates conduct comprehensive research, develop and implement projects, as well as expertise projects and planning documents in the sphere of urban development, in terms of socio-economic and spatial functioning of the cities. They will use interdisciplinary integrated approaches in terms of evaluating and solving the challenges facing modern cities; develop appropriate skills to synthesize knowledge about physical environment of the city and forms of urban development (architecture, landscape architecture and planning) with important urban components, such as geography, ecology, economy, sociology and population demography.
